The new S-phones from BenQ-Siemens feels promising

The display of S88 caused a feeling similar to an aha-experience. The Oled-technique in the display generates a more intense brightness and richer colours than I experienced earlier mobile phones to have. Menu icons and a lot of other stuff are completely new at BenQ-Siemens S88.

The camera is the most exciting feature, because it' s still unusual with mobile phones that offer auto focus and at least 2 megapixels in the camera. After shooting just a few pictures it is still difficult to draw any conclusions. But it feels easy to use, and the flash bulb works fine. The variations of settings is big. The focusing worked quickly and well, and the built-in lamp brought a absolutely approved light in the dark environment. On the other hand it surprises me that the camera doesn' t come with a lens cap, which is necessary when the phone is lying in the pocket.

At S88 the ports for headset and charger are completely different than earlier phones from BenQ-Siemens. On the side a small port for headset and underneath some extremely small ports for charging and connecting to PC.

However 16 Mb built-in memory feels rather tight-fisted in a phone with a 2.0 megapixelcamera, musicplayer and other memory demanding functions. Even though you are able to attach extra memory such as MicroSD/Transflash.

S88 will be on the market in the second quarter of this year, according to BenQ-Siemens.

S68 is maybe the slimmest and the most elegant among the phones BenQ-Siemens was introducing today. It' s very thin (13 mm) and have a coat of brushed aluminum. The main menu differ from the last few years. Instead Siemens has imitated the most elementary menus by Nokia, were you get one choice from the menu at a time when you click yourself down along.

The idea is that S68 will suit all those for whom stylish design and no unnecessary gadgets added is the principal, just clear and self-explanatory menu structure. The phone is tiny and very light. The metalcoat makes it robust and luxurious. Therefore is the price of 1900 sek, maybe surprisingly low.

The display is sophisticated, it's a bright TFT-display with 262000 colours. The effort with simplified menus is working in this phone. The menus feels comfortable. If the phone was packed with more functions it would have been difficult to grasp, but here it' s working.
