Unlike its predecessor Rokr E1 the E2 does not have any connection to Apple's music player iTunes. Instead, E2 works like a portable hard disk when connected to the computer, and you can simply drag your music files to that folder.

With the earlier music mobiles, like the predecessor Rokr E1, it has sometimes proven to be a slow process to transfer music from the computer. Motorola has supposedly corrected this fault now, thanks to that the telephone supports USB 2.0.

The music is saved in the telephones built-in memory or on a memory card. Rokr E2 supports SD Memory Cards, which at present are available with up to 2 gigabytes of memory. That is enough for 500 tracks, if you count one MP3 track as requiring 4 megabytes of storage space.

Above this the Rokd E2 also supports Motorola's new mobile radio, the iRadio. The system consists of a software in you PC, which detects when the mobile phone is connected through the USB cable. When the connection is established, tracks from your music radio channels will be transferred to the mobile phone.

The Rokr E2 also has a built-in FM radio.

On the side of the phone's body are the music control buttons, for play, pause, next track and previous track in the track list.

Ordinary earphones or headphones can be connected through a 3.5 millimetre connector on the Rokr E2. This mobile phone also has bluetooth, supporting cordless stereo headsets. Many preceding mobile phones, like the Sony Ericsson W800 and W900, have been lacking this bluetooth feature.

The Rokr E2 also has a 1.3 megapixel camera with a flashlight. You can also take and watch video clips.

Sometime during the first six month of 2006 the Rokr E2 will be released in the stores.
